Compare the footprints
At the same 1200 mm length, the UK standard footprint is 200 mm wider than Euro size. That changes deck area and how your cartons occupy it. Measure the packed load, not just an empty pallet; goods overhanging the deck can create handling and receiving problems.
Check the footprint your next receiver expects, then confirm pallet height and construction. The comparison below is dimensional only, not a structural specification.
Entry and underside compatibility
Block and bearer constructions can behave differently with forks and pallet trucks. Four-way forklift access does not automatically guarantee pallet-truck access from all sides: lower boards, openings and wheel clearance matter. Confirm the equipment and approach direction used on your site.
For racking or conveyors, send the actual support and roller arrangement with the load details. Photographs of the underside help identify a candidate, but suitability must be agreed against your use.
Choose condition for the work
For repeated handling, look beyond colour: discuss sound boards, blocks or bearers, secure fixings, repair acceptability and freedom from contamination for your application. Tell us whether a customer requires matching deck layouts or a particular grade description.
A one-way dispatch and a pallet kept in a working circulation may need different selection priorities. For regular orders, give typical volume and notice available, then agree the characteristics that should stay consistent. Call 023 9239 7737 with the brief to discuss an available used option.
Footprint and compatibility
Confirm the full length and width of the pallet you need and how it must enter your handling system. Used pallets sharing this footprint can differ in board count, board thickness, bearer or block construction, entry points and underside layout.
Compatibility matters where pallets interact with packaging lines, pallet trucks, conveyors, racking or a customer's intake rules. Sending photographs and measurements of a known suitable pallet can reduce ambiguity.
Grading varies
Trade descriptions and grades are not always applied in exactly the same way between suppliers. Rather than relying on a grade name alone, explain the acceptable condition, repair and consistency requirements for your job. Used timber will naturally vary in colour and surface appearance.
No fixed load rating should be assumed from ‘1200 × 1000’ or from a visual grade. Load weight, distribution, support, handling and the individual pallet specification all matter. Suitability and any capacity requirement must be confirmed before use.
Export options and what to send
For a quote, provide quantity, photographs or construction details, use and load information, postcode, access, unloading arrangements and timing. We will discuss available used wooden pallets against that brief rather than promise a generic pallet for every application.
For international movements, we can supply used pallets already heat-treated and correctly marked for ISPM 15, or arrange treatment through a registered partner. Identify the destination country and state any treatment, marking or repair restrictions before ordering. Service is subject to specification, availability and destination requirements.
A 1200 × 1000 mm footprint and a heat-treated appearance do not demonstrate ISPM 15 compliance; the actual marks, condition, repair history and current destination rules still need to be checked.
Useful answers
Common questions
Are all 1200 × 1000 pallets interchangeable?
While the footprint may be identical, construction and condition can vary between pallets.
What load can one carry?
There is no single capacity for the footprint. The specification and intended use must be confirmed.
